The Gems of the Southwest
November 2-7, 2021
Class size: 6 Spots
Tuition: $TBD
The United States southwest holds some of the best and most surreal landscapes that really make you question whether or not you’re still on Planet Earth. I invite you to come join me for a week on the road exploring some of my favorite locations throughout Utah and northern Arizona. On this adventure, we will begin in Zion National Park and spend two days here photographing fall foliage, the Narrows and a few other spectacular locations. From Zion, we will move to Kanab, Utah where will we head out for sunset to the otherworldly White Pocket, followed by sunrise at the Toadstools. We will then leave Kanab and head north to the mystical Bryce Canyon, where we will shoot sunset and sunrise the following day. After Bryce, it’s onward to the Badlands of Utah, a place that you have to see to believe! Make sure to bring as many memory cards as possible, you’re going to need them!

Where are we staying?
Due to the diverse schedule that we have, we will be staying at various hotels in Springdale, UT, Bryce Canyon, Kanab, UT, and Hanksville, UT. Accommodations are double occupancy. Single occupancy is available for a fee. Please let me know after registration if you prefer to have your own room.
Spouses
Spouses are welcome to come on this workshop for an additional fee of $600. They must also follow the workshop in their own vehicle as there is only enough room in the van for participants. If you’d like to bring your spouse, please email me after registration.
Physical Requirements:
This is a hiking intensive workshop. With that said, we have at least two locations with hikes that are approximately four miles round trip. We will be visiting The Narrows within Zion National Park. This hike will require a partial hike in the river with water approximately knee deep at times.
Weather:
During this time of year, and with the variety of locations in which we will be traveling to, we can expect temperatures anywhere from the mid-50’s for highs to the mid-20’s for lows.
Transportation:
Each student will be required to provide their own vehicle for this workshop to transport themselves and their luggage in between each location. Once at a shooting location, I will provide a vehicle for us to all ride in together for each outing. *Any spouses that come along will be required to follow along in their own vehicle regardless, and may need to stay back for White Pocket and the Badlands, as high clearance, off-road vehicles will be rented for these locations.
It is recommended to fly into Las Vegas, NV and out of Grand Junction, CO.
* If you have a spouse joining, please let me know and we may be able to set them up with a tour guide for these harder to reach locations.
When does the workshop start and wrap?
The workshop will begin with our meet and greet at 1PM in Zion National Park and will wrap at 10AM in Hanksville, Utah.
