In one of the most remarkable and breathtaking landscapes, you will find yourself surrounded by towering mountains carved by glaciers, crashing waterfalls, and aqua blue lakes. If that isn’t enough, throw in the beautiful wildlife that is found deep within Glacier National Park. From grizzly bears to to moose to mountain goats and more, you’re not the only one taking in the stunning views. Come join me for five days in one of America’s greatest national parks, Glacier. We will be up for every sunrise and out for every sunset to capture as many dazzling images that we can. We will also head out to take advantage of the night sky above the park. Don’t forget those long lenses as well, it’s almost certain that we will run across wildlife as well!
What You Will Learn:
How to create compelling landscape compositions.
How to use your camera to its fullest capabilities.
How to utilize a variety of lenses to think “outside the box.”
An understanding for light and how to take advantage of it in all conditions.
How to photograph the night sky, including the Milky Way and how to create star trails.
The basics of Lightroom and Photoshop.
An introduction to black and white photography.
How to utilize filters.
How to safely photograph wildlife.
How to pick your jaw up off the floor.
What You Will Need:
A DSLR camera body and an assortment of lenses. A wide angle is highly recommended as well as a zoom lens.
A sturdy tripod.
An intervalometer (a cheap one off of Amazon will work just fine).
A headlamp or flashlight.
At least the trial version of Lightroom or Photoshop on your laptop.
Multiple batteries.
A desire to learn, have fun, be flexible, and explore nature!
Note: a 10 or 6 stop neutral density filter for your wide angle is recommended, but not required. Also, a circular polarizer is recommended, but not required.

Physical Requirements:
We will have multiple hikes ranging in the 2-3 mile distance round trip. Terrain will be uphill and downhill on a trail. Participants must be able to carry their own gear at a slow-to-moderate pace on these outings. If you feel a hike may be too much for you, I can gladly give you another, easier location to shoot at. Please know your limits for your safety and in fairness to others. Days will be long with sunrise around 5:45AM and sunset at around 9:45PM.
Where To Fly Into:
Getting to Glacier National Park requires flying into one of three airports depending on which airline you book on. The closest airport is Glacier Park International Airport in Kalispell, Montana. The other two airports, a bit further drive from the park are Missoula, Montana or Spokane, Washington.
Workshop Start & Wrap:
Our Workshop will start with our meet & greet on the 4th at 3PM. We will wrap our workshop at 10AM on the 8th.
