In one of the most remarkable and breathtaking areas for landscapes, we will spend five days together exploring some of my favorite areas around the southwest Utah region! Locations will include Zion National Park, St,. George, and the Kanab and Kanarraville areas. We will be visiting some of the iconic locations in this area, as well as some of the lesser known areas as well. Each day will begin with a sunrise shoot, then a midday edit session, and a sunset outing, and if the skies cooperate, maybe even a bit of night sky imagery! Get your sleep now, because there is a lot of exploring to do!

What You Will Learn:

How to create compelling landscape compositions.
How to use your camera to its fullest capabilities.
How to utilize a variety of lenses to think “outside the box.”
An understanding for light and how to take advantage of it in all conditions.
How to edit your images utilizing Lightroom Classic & Photoshop.
An introduction to black and white photography.
How to utilize filters.
How to pick your jaw up off the floor because Utah is stunning!

What You Will Need:

A DSLR or mirrorless camera body and an assortment of lenses. A wide angle is highly recommended as well as a mid-zoom.
A sturdy tripod.
A headlamp or flashlight.
Lightroom Classic and Photoshop.
Multiple batteries.
A desire to learn, have fun, be flexible, and explore nature!
- Note: a 10 or 6 stop neutral density, and circular polarizer filter for your wide angle is highly recommended.

Physical Difficulty: Moderate

This workshop will require a couple of hikes. The first hike will be ~4.5 miles round trip on flat ground but will require walking in water at times. The second hike will be 3.7 miles round trip and will have a small elevation gain at the beginning then mostly flat, but will require walking in water. Hikes are taken at a slow pace with breaks included.

Where are we staying?

We will be staying in multiple locations throughout our workshop for ease of access to our shooting locations. Accommodations will be based upon double occupancy with single occupancy available for a fee.
